I started this journey on my 44th birthday.
While I have run off and on for years, in 2014 my love affair became serious and I decided that I should chronicle the journey I am on. It is not just to fitness, although that is certainly a large part of it. I hope that by sharing my trip, I can show others that is is not so hard to start. Or keep going.
I have been exercising in various ways for over 20 years. But running…..fits. And I hate cardio. Who knew?
I started running to lose weight, that 10lbs that never leaves. But now when I lose a pound it is incidental. Running fits my competitive nature, and lets me push myself, even though right now I’m just pushing myself out the front door early in the morning.
I primarily run and practice yoga, but as an exercise-aholic, other forms of exercise will find their way into my blog as well. I can’t promise that I won’t occasionally get sidetracked with other going-ons, but my blog will mostly be focused on exercise: why we do it, how we do it, the best way to eat for it.
I have a rather snarky sense of humor, and am addicted to photographing all my running trails. As well as anything else that catches my eye, so expect a lot of photos shuffled in. And, oh yes, I have a horse. She will show up often as well!

Ah running – I have an off and on obsession with it. Every now and then racing 10Ks. I look forward to following your journey.

Thanks! 10k this summer I hope. Maybe a half someday, but it seems unlikely I will ever do a marathon. I don’t really have the desire for it. Still, I would think occasionally running away from the household would be nice! lol

I did a half once – but that was pre-kids 🙂 I hope to get back there again someday – but not right now 🙂 Good luck getting to a 10k this summer – I find that a good length. And it doesn’t wipe me out for the whole day!

Rather what I thought. I ran a 6.3 mile last summer, so that is pretty close. And I still managed to spend the afternoon shopping with a friend 🙂

Maine. This year has been snowy even for us. And apparently Portland ME set a record low last night, breaking a 1956 low.

Sorry I just found your blog and I hate you already! You live in Maine…..aahhh. I am in Sydney Australia but have been in love with Maine most of my life without ever having been there. I have many photos, jigsaws, etc., I think it is one of the most beautiful places. I am originally from New Zealand so I know lots of beautiful places, but there is something special about Maine…lucky you!

I agree, I love Maine. But I would love to go to New Zealand. So beautiful.
Altho, I am not loving our snow this year!

Yes I guess it could be that I miss all the autumn shades of NZ which Maine has. Australia is so different, it’s own kind of beauty. I am a cold weather person so I miss things like rain, frost and snow.

I like the snow, I am just done with it now! Autumn is my favorite season, I can rush thru spring and summer to get back to it.

Hi Sam
I am nominating you for a challenge! It is a Five Photo Five Story challenge , Donna from Homemade Naturally invited me to join in “Five Photo’s Five Stories” and today is my fourth day of this challenge.
Five Photos, Five Stories, like most challenges has a loose set of guidelines:
1. Post a photo each day for five consecutive days.
2. Attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it is entirely up to you.
3. At the end of each day, nominate one other blogger to take part.
Have fun!
P.S. Two horses is better than one x

Samantha,
I have been laughing aloud at our conversation on my blog.
Thank you so much, on-line humour can be difficult but you do it brilliantly.
