Weekly Rundown

Another week has flown by–literally. The gales of Fall have blown most of the trees naked, and the days have shortened. I have done a lot of treadmill work this week.  It is chilly when I leave for work and near dark when I get back.  I do love fall!  Not sure the horses appreciate it, as they are ones with the least attention.

Monday: I managed to get up early enough in the morning to get on the treadmill. I walked for 15 minutes, then did 17 mins of yoga. I did both stretch-y and strength poses, and went off to work feeling happy and relaxed.

Tuesday: I once more made the name of my blog an accurate one, and got on the treadmill before work again. I did a 5 minute warm up, then 15 minute run with a 5 minute cool down.  I haven’t been running much, I did do it in September but then I kinda fell off. I just didn’t have any confidence in running.   But my outdoors 1 mile run a couple of weeks ago, I was inspired to try again 🙂

Wednesday: off. We all need a day off, right?

Thursday: I did my arm weights and leg PT. It took about 30  minutes, and I did 3 x 15 reps.  I could feel my core working pretty hard, which actually made me feel good. Again, the leg moves made my legs much better after the run the day before.

Friday: another run before work. This time after the warm up, I did a 20 minute run. I find my day at work goes so much nicer with the workout in morning.  I feel accomplished, and I don’t have to worry about squeezing it in after work.  I may become a morning workout person after all!

Saturday: it was supposed to rain, so when the sun was shining at 7am, I stuck Daisy in her coat and snuck out for a quick 1.47 mile walk. Generally, Daisy runs when I approach her with a sweater, but I found a coat that Velcros down her belly. She likes it because it doesn’t have to go over her head, and I like it because it covers her belly, so when her legs get wet, the bulk of her body stays dry. Plus, she is awful cute in it.

Sunday: Another Daisy walk, I felt bad that our other walk was so short. We did a brisk 2 miles in 34 minutes.  I did 18 minutes of yoga (mostly stretch-y) then  there was a slew of housework, followed by some horseplay. I didn’t lunge them, as the ground was wet from yesterday’s rain. But I did do a little ground work after making them purty and relaxed. They are so much fun to brush right now, their hair is thick and soft.

Weekly Rundown

It was a week of ups and downs, as I ran out of time to exercise more than I meant to. But the days I had the time, the workouts went very well.

Monday: off. Not really planned, just happened that way.

Tuesday: off, again just a lack of time.

Wednesday: I wanted to walk the puppy, but my husband pointed out it would be rude to leave our family (who had come to visit). I tried to get my mom in law to go–that wouldn’t be rude, if she went too–but it was too early. So I did 22 minutes of yoga in the living room. And had a good time with family after.

Thursday: I decided it was time to get back on the treadmill. I have been walking outside, but between work and late sunrises plus early sunsets, I can’t walk during the week. Surprisingly, I even got on after a long day at work. I did 5 minutes at 3.5 MPH (I figured I had warmed up feeding the horses), then a 10 minute run at 4.0 MPH, another 5 at 3.0MPH and then a 2 minute cool down. A little stretching and it was time to make dinner. It was a great workout!

Friday: off again. Not planned or even enjoyed, but off it was.

Saturday: Daisy and I headed out for a walk. It was a gloomy day, and I didn’t really have a plan. I wanted to burn off some of the food I had eaten this week, but I didn’t want to go out 4 or 5 miles. We walked (fairly briskly) for a mile and a half, then ran home the last mile. Yup, I ran a whole mile! Outside, not on the treadmill! (which I haven’t done, anyway) Would it have easier without Daisy veering off to sniff ? Probably. Did my knee hurt while I was doing it? Yeah. Did I have to walk down the steep hill? Yup. Did my knee stiffen up for the rest of the day? Yes’sir.  Did I walk up and down the stairs oh so slowly in a 2-step fashion? Uh-huh. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!

Sunday: whenever my feels unhappy, my leg PT moves always makes it feel better. Not sure why, since it does make the muscles work, but it helps. So I  did my arm weights and leg PT,  3x 15 reps. I haven’t actually managed to do that workout for a week or more, so it was harder than I thought. And my leg did feel a bit better 🙂

In all, I call it a good week, and I feel inspired to run more!

Weekly Rundown

I missed posting a Rundown last week, life was still chaotic. I suppose life is always chaotic, last week it was just hard to find those pools of calm that let us do what we want to do, instead of what we need to do. We shall see how this week proceeds 🙂

Monday: Daisy and I took a very brisk, short walk. I have been trying to crack the 17 minute mile, no matter how fast we walked, each mile was 17 minutes or longer. Daisy and I started out with a very firm goal this time, and we did a 15:59 mile. Might have been faster if someone didn’t need a poop stop 😛

Tuesday: off, decided my heart just wasn’t in it.

Wednesday: I got up and got on the treadmill. Yes, I am quite proud of myself! I did 25 minutes of varying (increasing) speeds before getting ready for work. I always have a good day when I push myself to exercise in the early morning, although that is not my preferred time.  Now I just have to keep reminding myself of that. My hours were changed from 11:30 – 8:00 to 8:30 – 5:00, which was a wonderful thing. Now I am home at night, so I can feed the horses and the husband. But it threw my exercise for a loop, as I either need to get up quite early  or do it after a long busy day. I think I am starting to get a handle on it.

Thursday: off, I figured it was a good day for it.

Friday: off, although I had planned to walk the puppy and do some yoga after work. The chaos rose up, and I did not get the chance.

Saturday: Daisy and I made up for all those days off with a vengeance. We started off on a long walk, moseying along as today I wanted distance, not time. We hit several points that I had considered as turn-around points, but since I felt ok (my leg was aware, but not screaming) and Daisy was trotting along, we just kept going. In the end we did 5.48 miles in 1:52. That was the longest walk Daisy had done, and on the way back she did slow down and look up at me a couple of times. I picked her up, snuggled her and carried her about 10 steps before putting her back down. Then she was fine all the way home.  She slept all day, but I got a lot done–even lunging both the horses. Which was good, because every time I sat too long, the leg stiffened up. So moving about was good for many reasons.

Sunday: I made Charby do some real work, and rode her for 15 minutes. She was feeling pretty lazy, but we had a good time together. I did 29 minutes of yoga after, stretching out all the muscles used over the weekend. I did do strength poses as well, and I felt calm and relaxed afterwards.  In all, not a bad week 🙂

Monthly Stats

Am I the only one that is depressed how few calories are burned throughout the month?  That is probably only 3 days worth of food I burned off!!! But I did do alot of walking 🙂 So grateful September gave us good weather and beautiful foliage.

Weekly Rundown

Ok, I took last week off. Not just from the blog, but from exercise. I did some yoga on Tuesday, and I walked Daisy on Saturday. The yoga went great, of course, but I can’t say the same for the walk.

I was half-way down the driveway when I remembered I hadn’t put a brace on yet. But I kept going anyway. Daisy had a wonderful time sniffing, and it was a nice, albeit cloudy, morning. As we crested the hill a mile out, it started to rain (clouds, remember?). Daisy and I decided to keep going. We went another half a mile, and the rain stopped.  We turned and walked back, and when we hit the end of our road, I realized why I still had been wearing a brace. With half a mile left to go, I wished for the ability to instantanously transport myself  anywhere–preferably, my couch. Daisy kept me going, however, and I put a muscle rub on before heading off to town. I have to admit that shopping wasn’t all that fun, and after breakfast with my mother in law and  3 stores, I decided I was done.

My husband and I brought 2 cord of wood into the basement on Sunday, and I would consider that enough of a workout. Since my leg was not so happy with that, my hubby was nice enough to suggest I take a nap.

But as an exercise addict, I did feel like I gained a million pounds by taking last week off.  I am pretty sure my stomach muscles lost a bit of tone too. Guess that means I just have to work harder this week!
